Mahogany
The Mahogany tree (Swietenia species) is a majestic hardwood native to tropical regions of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Renowned for its straight-grained, reddish-brown timber, mahogany is prized for its beauty, strength, and workability. The tree can grow up to 150 feet tall and is valued not only for its wood but also for its ecological contributions, providing habitat and shade in tropical forests. Due to overharvesting and deforestation, some mahogany species, like Swietenia macrophylla (Honduran mahogany), are now protected under international conservation agreements to ensure sustainable use.
Crafted from a single piece of Mahogany, this design draws inspiration from the enlightenment symbolized by the 11-sided shape, the hendecagon. The number eleven is often linked to heightened awareness, sensitivity, and spiritual insight. It also universally resonates with themes of intuition, duality, and connection to something greater.
