Mahogany
The Mahogany tree (Swietenia species) is a majestic hardwood native to tropical regions of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Renowned for its straight-grained, reddish-brown timber, mahogany is prized for its beauty, strength, and workability. The tree can grow up to 150 feet tall and is valued not only for its wood but also for its ecological contributions, providing habitat and shade in tropical forests. Due to overharvesting and deforestation, some mahogany species, like Swietenia macrophylla (Honduran mahogany), are now protected under international conservation agreements to ensure sustainable use.
Crafted from a single piece of Mahogany, this design is primarily composed of two rhombus shapes, intended to explore the interplay of shape and depth from different perspectives. It seeks to reflect the idea that things can hold multiple meanings or forms, depending on how they are perceived.
